Selkirk Fire Department shared an album: Sgt. Francis Currey Funeral.

Selkirk FD was extremely proud to be a part of honoring Sgt. Currey. A true American Hero.Family, friends, first responders and complete strangers lined the streets of Ravena and South Bethlehem to pay their final respects for World War II Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Francis Currey.

The funeral procession made its way from Ravena and down Route 9w and went underneath the American flag hung by two firetrucks and the road lined with members of Ravena, Coeymans, Coeymans Hollow and New Baltimore fire departments.

The procession went all the way up Route 11 to South Bethlehem where members of the Selkirk Fire Department were lined up with the American flag being hung over Route 101 and Route 396.

Currey was laid to rest on Saturday, October 12 in South Bethlehem with a full military send-off complete with a flyover from two Blackhawk helicopters. ... See MoreSee Less

If there is anything we can cherish about Mr. Curry and his beautiful wife is #HUMILITY.

Oh my..drove thru there today..so humbled by all that was there to honor this man..forgot this was happening. .at least went thru before the persecution

Mr. Currey; you will be missed. Lucky to have been your friend and neighbor. You tought me three things; GI Joe is an action figure, NOT a doll. 😊. No one wins the Congressional MOH!; “In fact no one would ever actually want one...” Thirdly; he and Ms. Wilma have a very unique production model of his Hasbro ‘action figure’. Well deserved.
